Foot Mobilisation and Manipulation

About Your Podiatry Hallett Cove and Brighton

Foot Mobilisation and Manipulation Technique (FMT):

FMT is a specifically developed form of manual therapy aimed at improving foot and leg function. Through FMT we are achieving lasting results in people experiencing heel pain, generalised foot pain and problems with their knees, legs, hips and lower back - where misaligned joints in the feet are often the root cause.

FMT targets joints of the foot and ankle that have become restricted, misaligned or dysfunctional. Through gentle hands-on sessions FMT will gradually work to stimulate the body's natural repair system and ultimately restore the natural function of the foot. Our structured treatment program - usually comprised of 4-6 FMT sessions and a home exercise regime - is achieving lasting results after 2-3 months.

Physiotherapy and chiropractic practitioners have long used manual therapies, however it has not been until recently that the benefits of such techniques applied to the foot have become recognised.

At Your Podiatry we are excited to bring this innovation in podiatric healthcare to you, especially if you may have experienced limited benefits from traditional podiatry services and orthotic therapy. This treatment option can be in combination with orthotic (shoe inserts) therapy or for the person who does not want to change their shoe practices that orthoses tend to require.

FMT undoes the restrictions of our connective tissues that have ocurred over our lifetime. This allows our foot and ankle joints to go back to moving in their full range and to potentially restore joint mobility with some self maintenence.

"FMT has evolved from combining the podiatric biomechanical understanding of foot and leg function, with the manual therapeutic experience of physiotherapy and chiropractic."
